Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Life'z-a-Cake! By accessing and using our website (lifezacake.com) and placing orders with us, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please review them carefully before securing your date.

Section A: Baking & Order Policies

1. Payment Structure & Order Confirmation

To offer flexibility and peace of mind, we operate on a secure, three-step payment schedule for all standard orders:

• Initial Booking Deposit ($50): To officially lock in your date on our production calendar, a $50 non-refundable deposit is required. Because we operate out of a licensed commissary kitchen with strictly limited weekly slots, your date is not guaranteed or held until this deposit is received. This is not an extra fee; it will be fully deducted from your final total.

• Mid-Way Progress Payment: Exactly one week (7 days) prior to your scheduled pickup date, 50% of your remaining balance is due. Once paid at this 7-day mark, this progress payment becomes entirely non-refundable, as it is immediately used to secure fresh ingredients and begin hand-crafting your custom decorations and structural elements.

• Final Balance on Pickup: The remaining final balance is due on your scheduled pickup day.

2. Last-Minute / Short-Notice Orders (Less than 7 Days)

• Full Payment Upfront: Orders requested less than 7 days prior to the required pickup date must be paid in full (100%) immediately via Interac e-Transfer to be confirmed. The standard 3-step payment plan does not apply to short-notice orders.

• Non-Refundable Status: Once paid and accepted, short-notice orders are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable, as emergency production and immediate ingredient sourcing begin right away.

• Rush Fees: Short-notice orders are subject to a flat $30.00 Rush Fee to accommodate emergency scheduling, rush kitchen prep, and last-minute ingredient sourcing.

• Design & Flavor Limitations: Design complexity and flavor choices may be strictly limited based on current ingredient availability and remaining production hours for that week.

3. Accepted Payment Methods

• Interac e-Transfer (Preferred): To support our independent bakeshop, e-Transfer is our preferred method for all deposits and progress payments. Please send transfers to our designated business email.

• On-Site Tap-to-Pay: For your convenience at pickup, we accept all major credit cards, debit cards, cash, or e-Transfer on-site.

4. Cancellations & Refunds

• Notice of 7+ Days: If you cancel your order more than 7 days before your scheduled pickup, you will receive a full refund of any progress payments made, minus the initial $50 non-refundable booking deposit (which covers administrative time and held calendar space).

• Notice of Less Than 7 Days: Cancellations made within 7 days of the pickup date are 100% non-refundable, as custom production has already commenced and ingredients have been dedicated to your order.

5. Rescheduling & Date Changes

• We understand that plans change! If you need to move your event date, we require at least one week (7 days) advance notice prior to your original pickup date.

• If proper notice is given, your payments will be fully transferred to your new date, subject to our current calendar availability. If we are completely booked for your new date or proper notice is not given, the request will be treated as a cancellation.

6. Design, Artistry & Inspiration

• While inspiration photos provided by clients are used as a stylistic guide, Life'z-A-Cake Bakeshop does not guarantee exact replicas. As a custom studio, we reserve the right to bring our own professional artistic touches to ensure your cake is structurally sound and unique to your event.

7. Allergen Warning, Ingredients & Non-Edible Elements

• Shared Commissary Kitchen: Life'z-A-Cake Bakeshop operates out of a fully licensed, shared commercial commissary kitchen facility. While we strictly follow rigorous sanitation, safety, and cleaning protocols to prevent cross-contamination, our baking environment utilizes shared equipment where allergens are present.

• Core Ingredients & Traces: Standard ingredients used across our menu include wheat, eggs, and dairy. Our products may also contain soy and traces of nuts.

• Specialty Orders (Gluten-Free / Nut-Free / Eggless): We proudly offer specialized baking options, including gluten-free, nut-free and eggless alternative variations. However, because our kitchen is a shared space, we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen-free environment.

• Structural Support Alert: Custom cakes and complex 3D sculpted designs may contain structural dowels, wires, rods, or other inedible decorations. It is the client's explicit responsibility to ensure these structural elements are removed safely before cutting and serving the product to guests.

• Liability Disclaimer: Clients are entirely responsible for notifying their guests of these ingredient, allergen, and structural warnings. Life'z-A-Cake Bakeshop is not liable for any allergic reactions, adverse medical incidents, or injuries resulting from trace exposures or unremoved structural pieces.

8. Cake Care, Storage & Serving Responsibility

• Temperature Requirements: All of our custom cakes are made with premium, real buttercream. Because real butter hardens when chilled, cakes must be brought to room temperature for 1 to 2 hours prior to serving to allow the buttercream and cake layers to soften to their proper, intended texture.

• Instruction Labels: Crucial storage and serving instructions are attached to every single cake box lid. Life'z-A-Cake Bakeshop is not responsible for the texture, taste, or slicing difficulties of cakes that are served cold or have not been allowed to properly come to room temperature against our guidelines. No refunds, partial credits, or returns will be issued for cakes handled improperly by the client.

9. Pickup, Timeliness & Liability

• Strict Pickup Windows: Because we operate out of a shared commercial commissary kitchen by appointment only, pickup times must be strictly adhered to. Please notify us immediately if you are running late. Orders not picked up within 24 hours of the scheduled time without prior communication will be forfeited without a refund.

• Client Inspection: Customers are entirely responsible for inspecting their custom cake at the time of pickup. By paying your final balance and taking the cake from our possession, you acknowledge that the design, quality, and condition meet your complete satisfaction.

• Transportation Liability: Once the cake leaves our possession, Life'z-A-Cake Bakeshop is not liable for any damage, melting, or issues that occur during transit, driving, or subsequent handling.

10. Payment Implies Consent

Please Note: Life'z-A-Cake Bakeshop does not require a physically signed contract. The act of paying your initial $50 non-refundable deposit legally constitutes full, explicit agreement to all the terms, conditions, rush rules, allergen disclaimers, and care policies outlined in Section A and Section B of this document.
